Years ago, I was searching for a pterodactyl piñata for my housewarming party. Not finding what I wanted, I decided to build my own, and learned how to turn paper and glue into smashable art. The creation was as fun as the destruction!

As I began making them for others, each piñata became a tribute to the unique guest of honor. With papier-mâché, possibilities are almost unlimited. I love making exactly what someone wants, and watching the joy in busting it open!

Popularly associated with Mexico, piñatas have a rich history in many ancient cultures. They were broken to commence a new year, bless a bountiful harvest, or mark a personal journey. These ceremonial and community-based intentions are part of my work.

Our piñatas are made from repurposed newspaper and cardboard, and decorated with compostable crepe and glue. Fill with biodegradable confetti or dried flowers to make a beautiful earth-friendly piñata!
